Andair fuel selectors feature positive stops for the LEFT and RIGHT positions - no more wondering if you stopped at the detent or slightly off-center. Andair valves feature make-before-break operation - as you swing the valve from the left tank to the right, the right tank feed line begins to open before the left line closes completely. As an added safety feature, the handle-mounted plunger must be lifted before the valve can be rotated to OFF - it is impossible to accidentally shut off fuel flow using an Andair selector.
FS20F5FMF - Three-Port Valves for AUX Tanks
It seems there are quite a few folks who are either based from or visit airports without fuel service, and they want the option of carrying a little more fuel that the stock configuration allows. An auxiliary tank or removable ferry tank is the logical solution.
To meet this need, I ordered a case of specially engraved FS20F5FMF valves. This is a three-position valve with a 1/4" female NPT output fitting, two 1/4" female NPT and one male AN6 input fittings. The bezels are engraved "LEFT-AUX-RIGHT-OFF". This configuration fits nicely in the RV-8/8A fuel panel and offers a safe, elegant, professional solution for those who want to stretch the RV's legs.
I also ordered a few extra AN6 90-degree fittings to see if the FS20f5 would fit in the RV-7/7A/9/9A. Configured as FS20F5T this valve fits inside the cover with room to spare.
Here's a photo of my RV-7 looking aft with the FS20F5T installed. The tee fitting and associated lines to the Airflow Performance filter and by-pass valve are not shown (because we don't have the parts yet). The line for the removable AUX tank runs down the right side of the center tunnel and comes up thru the baggage tunnel cover just aft of F-705 and the flap torque tube, but inside the flap mechanism covers. A 1x2-inch doubler on the right flange of the seatback brace supports the service fitting. Look closely and you can see the capped bulkhead 90 mounted to the aft flap brace in the background.
FS20X7 Extension Kits
Several RV-10 builders have discussed some clearance issues with rear heat SCAT tubing and rudder cables. We now have 6-inch extension kits available for the FS20X7-series to drop the valve body lower in the console.
